Crash on I-35E near UNT leaves dump truck dangling; hazardous waste cleanup causes delays

Major traffic problems resulted from a dump truck collision on I-35E that spilled hazardous waste fluid and debris all over the freeway.

Denton, TexasA dump truck was left hanging on a median wall after a collision on northbound I-35E close to the University of North Texas campus in Denton, which also left hazardous fluids and debris all over the freeway.

Both the northbound and southbound lanes of I-35E are being affected by the collision, which involved a pickup truck, a sedan, and a dump truck. They threw the dump truck into the median wall in the middle.

As crews start clearing away the hazardous chemicals, more closures will be needed, according to traffic reporter Chip Waggoner, who said traffic is now going slowly through the right shoulder.

The restoration of all lanes will be delayed until the median wall has undergone emergency repairs before the hazardous material cleaning can start. Lanes should reopen between 11 a.m. and noon, according to officials, who estimate cleanup and repairs will take a few more hours.

No significant injuries have been recorded as of yet.
