In the last six months, Collins Intermediate School has seen two personnel injuries.
Texas’s CorricanaA Corsicana ISD school staff claims that she was hurt when a kid attempted to hurl a chair at her.
In the last six months, Collins Intermediate School has seen two personnel injuries.
We know:
Carol Tidwell is a teacher’s assistant who has a strong desire to assist kids. She was placed in a Collins Intermediate classroom for children with behavioral issues at the start of this academic year. However, Tidwell claims she has worried about her safety.
Her words, “It is not right,” “It s not a healthy environment to be working in.”
According to Tidwell, her job was risky in addition to being ill on Tuesday.
The 57-year-old told FOX 4 that one of her students, who had previously acted violently, started acting out. She told of the horrifying sequence of events.
“When I looked up, all I could see was a chair coming,” she said. So I said, “Hey!” to the teacher. A chair is in the air! I asked AP for assistance. I lurched backwards, tripped, fell, and shattered my wrist before the chair touched the floor. My wrist on the left.
After Tidwell called her husband, he took her to Dallas’ Baylor Hospital. X-rays there verified that her wrist was shattered.
What they’re saying:
On Wednesday, Corsicana ISD gave FOX 4 the following statement:
A kid threw a chair toward a paraprofessional in a tiny classroom, and the paraprofessional collapsed while trying to dodge the chair as it slid across the floor. Video evidence indicates that the injuries happened during the fall.
“People need to know,” explained Tidwell. “These kids need to be helped.”
According to Corsicana ISD, district policy prevents it from disclosing any information about the kid engaged in Tuesday’s instance.
Tidwell remarked, “I don’t get paid to get messed up like this,”

Corsicana ISD assistant principal left blind in right eye after student throws wooden hanger at her
The Corsicana ISD administrator who was attacked by a student and had a major eye damage claims that the state’s negligence caused her ordeal. She explained what had happened in her own words.
The backstory
Candra Rogers, the assistant principal at Collins Intermediate, made a similar statement in August when she demanded reform.
After a young student in a classroom for students with behavioral problems threw several chairs at Rogers and struck her in the face with a hanger, Rogers lost her right eye.
If charges were ever brought in Rogers’ case, FOX4 has yet to hear back from the Navarro County District Attorney’s Office.
Next steps:
Tidwell has no intention of returning to work for Corsicana ISD. She claims she doesn’t think Collins Intermediate changed enough following the August event.
Learning resumed after Tuesday’s incident, according to a school district official, and the school was never put on lockdown.
