A man from Mayfield is in trouble for breaking into a pharmacy and stealing prescription pills. Chan J. Sonderfan, who is 38 years old, reportedly smashed a window at the Walgreens in Amsterdam on August 8 by throwing a paver block through it. After breaking in, he took several narcotics, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
Police responded quickly, arriving at the scene just minutes after the break-in. They found Sonderfan still inside the store. As a result of his actions, he faces multiple charges, including burglary, criminal mischief, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a controlled substance, possession of burglar’s tools, and petit larceny.
Investigators also suspect Sonderfan may be involved in other commercial burglaries in Fulton County. Following his arrest, he was handed over to the Gloversville Police Department for further processing.
