An Aloha resident is behind bars after allegedly attempting to murder a man in Hillsboro. The suspect, identified as 33-year-old David Nicholas Artmeladze, was arrested by the Washington County Tactical Negotiations Team around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 1. The arrest took place in the parking lot of a Target store located at 11095 N.E. Evergreen Parkway.

Artmeladze is accused of shooting a man on the night of July 30 at the intersection of Northeast John Olsen Avenue and Northeast Von Neumann Drive in Hillsboro. The incident occurred around 9:40 p.m., and officers who arrived at the scene provided immediate medical assistance to the victim, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, is currently recovering from the injuries.

During the arrest, police used “distractionary devices” to temporarily incapacitate Artmeladze. These devices emit light and sound to disorient the suspect, ensuring a safer apprehension.

Later that evening, around 10 p.m., authorities executed a search warrant at Artmeladze’s residence located at Southwest 175th Avenue and Southwest Marty Lane. Following the search, Artmeladze was booked into the Washington County jail. He faces several serious charges, including attempted murder, first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and possession of a firearm by a felon.

The Hillsboro Police Department is actively investigating the case and encourages anyone with information to contact them at 503-681-5392. This incident is not the first time Artmeladze has been involved in a shooting. Back in 2009, at the age of 18, he pleaded guilty to first-degree assault with a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon. In that earlier incident, Artmeladze fired shots at a man at a Hillsboro MAX station, although no one was injured.
