BREAKING: Donald Trump is sworn in as president of the United States

Washington During an inauguration ceremony held within the U.S. Capitol rotunda on Monday, Donald Trump took the presidential oath of office for the second time.

The swearing-in ceremony was the end of a four-year trip for Trump, who was supported during his third presidential campaign but who many Republicans turned away from after the attack on the Capitol on January 6. Ohioan J.D. Vance, Trump’s running mate, took the oath of office as vice president.

“A lot of people believed that I couldn’t pull off such a historic political comeback,” Trump remarked in his inaugural speech after being sworn in. However, as you can see, the American people have spoken today.

The majority of Trump’s speech was devoted to outlining the executive orders he intends to sign later Monday on a variety of topics, including immigration and energy.

He declared that by taking these steps, we will start the revolution of common sense and the full restoration of America.

The audience in the rotunda gave him a standing ovation when he promised to declare a national emergency at the southern border. He promised to start the process of deporting millions upon millions of undocumented immigrants and said that all unlawful entrance into the United States will be immediately stopped.

I have no greater duty as commander in chief than to protect our nation from attacks and invaders, and I will do just that, Trump declared.

In the general election held in November, Trump defeated Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris with 312 Electoral College votes to her 226.

In addition, he received 77.3 million votes, or 49.9% of the total, while Harris received 75 million, or 48.4%.

The inauguration was originally scheduled to be on the terrace outside the Capitol building with a view of the National Mall, but Trump declared on Friday that he wanted it to be held indoors due to the bitter cold.

The ceremony took place in the rotunda for the first time since the inauguration of former President Ronald Reagan.

Some supporters and visitors who were unable to squeeze into the rotunda watched on big screens at the Capital One Arena in downtown Washington, D.C., or inside the Capitol Visitor Center.

In his inaugural speech, Trump declared that the Golden Age of America had begun and vowed to prioritize America over the next four years in office.

The president cited the truce and hostage agreement reached between Israel and Hamas last week when he stated his desire to serve as a unifier and a peacemaker.

Trump reaffirmed his drill, baby, drill strategy for oil and gas extraction and announced that he would declare a national energy emergency later Monday.

Additionally, he demanded the creation of an External Revenue Service to collect all taxes, levies, and customs.

Trump declared that he will issue an executive order to instantly end all forms of government censorship and restore free expression in the United States.
