Boise Police Looking for Suspect in Kidnapping of Young Girl

The Boise Police Department is intensifying its efforts to locate a suspect involved in an attempted kidnapping that occurred on May 6. The incident unfolded around 5:30 p.m. on South Curtis Road when a young girl was playing outside an apartment complex.

According to the police, the suspect, a man described as mostly bald with short black hair on the sides and back, approached the girl and requested that she get into his car so he could take her to her mother.

Despite the man’s request, the girl wisely refused and attempted to stay away from the vehicle. The suspect then forcibly placed the girl in his car and drove away. However, he soon turned around and returned her to the apartment complex unharmed. The girl’s family reported the incident to the police the following morning, and since then, Boise Police have been actively investigating the case.

The suspect is described as a Black man with a mustache, prominent front teeth, and wearing sunglasses. The vehicle involved is identified as a small black sedan or passenger car. The police have collected video evidence from the area around the 500 block of South Curtis Road and have conducted numerous interviews in their search for leads.

This attempted kidnapping is part of a troubling pattern of child enticement incidents in the area. Boise Police have reported two similar cases in recent months. On March 17, a man allegedly approached two children at an apartment complex on the 5800 block of West Kootenai Lane, asking for their assistance. This suspect was described as a Middle Eastern man with darker skin and hair, possibly associated with a white van. The children ran away, and the man left the scene.

Another incident occurred on December 12, 2023, at the Curtis Road apartment complex, where a suspect, described as a Black man in his 20s or 30s with a clean-shaven face and a dark-colored baseball cap, asked two girls to enter his car after rolling down the windows. The vehicle was noted as a gray or darker gray older model sedan with tinted windows. This suspect spoke with broken English and had an accent.

In response to these incidents, Boise Police have increased surveillance in the area, especially during school bus drop-off times, but have yet to identify the suspect or vehicle from this recent case. The department is urging anyone with information about these incidents to contact Ada County Dispatch at 208-377-6790. They also advise that if anyone observes suspicious behavior similar to these reports, they should immediately call 911.
