HURST, TexasHurston hosted a special benefit performance on Saturday to raise money for a guy injured by a vehicle who was driving in the wrong direction earlier this year.
Three weeks after becoming engaged in October of this year, Evan Ranallo and Chelsea Cook were involved in the accident.
A wrong-way driver struck the pair on Fort Worth’s Loop 820 as they were in their truck.
Cook did not make it out alive. Seven weeks later, Ranallo is still in the hospital getting better.
“It’s unbelievable. “It’s not something you would ever expect,” Cook’s mother, Laurel Summerfield, said.
According to the police, the vehicle that struck the couple included a family of four. All four of them perished when the family’s automobile caught fire.
“The likelihood that he survived what transpired is extremely slim. In addition to his injuries. Therefore, we are really grateful that he came,” Evan’s father, Chris Ranallo, said.
Ranallo is a member of five bands. In order to help, his friends and the band community organized a charity concert on Saturday.
“He is the one to turn to. Therefore, we needed to find a method to be the person he could turn to,” stated Aaron Allen, a bandmate of Ranallo.
From his hospital bed, Ranallo remained the “go-to guy” by phoning the bar to assist with a technical problem during the livestream of the concert.
There were several raffles, a silent auction, and t-shirts for sale in addition to the music.
Ranallo receives all of the money to aid in his recuperation.
“The situation is quite daunting. “The support is amazing,” Evan’s mother, Kelly Ranallo, said.
Chris and Kelli have alternated spending the night at the hospital with their kid for the past seven weeks.
“When I see this kind of crew of people surrounding him, you know what, I worry less, because look at these people who got his back,” said Chris.
Evan is eager to leave the hospital, according to Ranallo’s family, and they hope he can return home before Christmas.
A special memorial table was set up at the concert in Cook’s honor, and her family attended to offer their support.
“She must be figuring out how to watch it. She must be dancing,” Summerfield remarked.
Summerfield claims that her daughter had a big personality and that she finds comfort in the knowledge that so many people adored her.
