Another Restaurant at Meridian's Popular Village in Idaho is Shutting Down Permanently

The Village at Meridian, a bustling shopping and dining hub, just celebrated its tenth anniversary last October. Over the past decade, this vibrant center has brought numerous businesses to Meridian, becoming a favorite destination for locals and visitors alike. However, the tides are turning as some of their longest-standing tenants approach the end of their 10-year lease agreements and prepare to leave The Village.

On July 10, Twigs Bistro and Martini Bar, one of the shopping area’s cornerstone restaurants, announced its imminent closure. This news came as a shock to many loyal patrons who have enjoyed its offerings over the years. In an emotional Facebook post, Twigs shared: “It is with great disappointment that we announce the closing of our restaurant at The Village at Meridian.

Our last day of operation will be around August 15. Despite our efforts to extend our lease, CenterCal Properties has decided not to renew our agreement. We regret that we could not come to terms after such a long tenure at The Village.”

This closure marks a significant change for The Village, as Twigs has been a popular spot for both casual diners and those seeking a vibrant nightlife experience. The announcement has left many wondering what will fill the void left by Twigs’ departure.

Shortly after the announcement, several media outlets, including BoiseDev, reported that CenterCal Properties, the developer behind The Village, already has plans for a new tenant. The replacement is touted to be the very first of its kind in Idaho, sparking curiosity and speculation among the community.

However, the details remain under wraps. Efforts to dig into building permits revealed that The Village had filed a tenant improvement permit to create a new 1,120-square-foot tenant suite from a portion of the existing restaurant space. Intriguingly, the “New Tenant Information” section of the permit states “no tenant at this time,” leaving the identity of the new occupant a mystery.

Twigs Bistro and Martini Bar isn’t the only restaurant bidding farewell to The Village at Meridian in 2024. Earlier this year, Calle 75 Street Tacos quietly closed their counter on Valentine’s Day. In their farewell post to customers, Calle 75 expressed:

“This decision was not an easy one, but our lease is fulfilled, and after ten successful years behind our little counter, we feel that this is the right step for our team and the future of Calle 75.” Unlike Twigs, Calle 75 continues to operate its restaurant in Downtown Boise, alongside its food truck and catering operations.

The departures of Twigs and Calle 75 reflect a broader trend as The Village at Meridian evolves. With some of its original tenants moving on, the center is poised for a new chapter, bringing fresh experiences and dining options to its patrons. As The Village prepares to welcome new establishments, residents and visitors can look forward to what the next decade will bring to this beloved shopping and dining destination.
