Months after he severed his ankle monitor and ran away from North Texas, a child sex crime fugitive was shot by task force officers in Houston.
The wanted man was first taken into custody last summer on charges of raping a 12-year-old child in Plano.
North Texas fugitive captured in Houston

Robert Gregory Johnson III, 33, of Garland, was placed under a Be On the Lookout (BOLO) on January 16. He had been evading capture since August after he took off his court-mandated ankle monitor.

The East Division in Plano led the U.S. Marshals Task Force in the Houston region to a McDonald’s in Houston on Tuesday morning.
“Our crew had determined that the McDonald’s was a safe place to enter when they arrived. “It didn’t comply when they tried to give him verbal commands,” U.S. Marshal Deputy Cameron Welch added.
Johnson reportedly refused to obey even after officers deployed a Taser on him.
Johnson, according to authorities, reached into a backpack. After deciding it was a threat, task force police outside the McDonald’s fired, striking Johnson. They claim that he still disobeyed even at that point.
“It was at that time that a task force K9 was deployed, at which time he actually was subdued and taken into custody,” stated Welch.
Johnson’s injuries are unknown, although it is anticipated that he will live.
Nobody else was hurt.
Uber driver arrested for child sex assault
After sexually abusing his 12-year-old passenger, an Uber driver from North Texas was taken into custody. At the moment, the child was riding by himself.
The backstory
Last July, Johnson was taken into custody in Plano and accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl’s child.
According to investigators, on July 9, Johnson was employed by UberHealth when he picked up an unaccompanied youngster in Frisco after responding to a pickup request.
According to the police, Johnson took the girl home to Plano from a therapy center in Frisco.
Investigators said that the chat during the ride was extremely graphic.
Then, in Plano, Johnson turned off onto Legacy Drive. He forced the girl into the front seat and sexually attacked her in the parking lot, according to the police.
Johnson allegedly warned the girl that there would be “issues” if she spoke up before he dropped her off.

According to the police, the youngster was riding alone in the Uber since her mother had requested the journey using the Uber Health app, which is used to transport individuals to and from medical institutions.
The following day, the girl notified her therapist, the arrest affidavit states.
On July 12, Johnson was taken into custody and accused of severe child sexual assault.
