Suspect who fired at Lake Worth officers, set off fireworks killed in Fort Worth standoff

After a suspect opened fire on officers holed up in a Fort Worth residence and blew off fireworks, a standoff has ended.

Texas’s Fort WorthAn hours-long standoff at a Fort Worth residence has resulted in the death of a suspected shooter.

Police say it started when he led them on a chase into the city limits of Fort Worth after firing at Lake Worth officers during a traffic check.

We know:

Around 4 p.m. on Thursday, Lake Worth police officers were attempting to pull over a car when he started firing at them and fled, the department reported.

After leading authorities on a pursuit, the suspect was apprehended in the Fort Worth area, just outside the city limits of River Oaks, in the 1700 block of Skyline Drive.



The guy then abandoned his red pickup truck and locked himself in a neighboring house, according to the police.

“I am with my officers at the scene of this incident,” J.T. Manoushagian, the chief of police for Lake Worth, wrote on X. “Every cop is safe as of right now, as is the general public. Please pray for a peaceful conclusion.

The chief claims that at one point, someone else was inside the house, but the suspect subsequently let them go.

After the suspect detonated pyrotechnics, smoke can be seen exiting the house on SKY 4 footage. He hurled multiple rockets at the responding officers outside.

Fireworks seem to be being thrown at authorities by a man who has barricaded himself in a Fort Worth residence.

Investigators said the suspect left the house with a gun aimed at his head at approximately 8:25 p.m. He was urged to put it down by the officers, who then fired “less lethal rounds.”

According to investigators, the man then shot at officers after turning the rifle around. He was killed when officers returned fire.

Officers were unharmed.

Other authorities, including a SWAT squad, also provided assistance.

The investigation is currently being led by the Fort Worth Police Department.

The owner of the Fort Worth house is similarly unknown. Although he is unsure of the precise nature of the link, Chief Manoushagian claims the suspect does have some form of connection to the house.

The suspect’s name has not been made public by the police.
