We know:
The Keller ISD School Board will talk with the district on Thursday about Superintendent Tracy Johnson’s future, citing the agenda of a meeting that was released online on Monday.
According to the agenda item under Actions, the board would “consider and take possible action on superintendent voluntary separation agreement.” They will then “name an interim superintendent.”
The board will “receive legal advice on superintendent’s agreement” in executive session, according to the agenda item further down.

What is unknown to us:
It’s unclear who started the conversations about a potential resignation—the school board or the superintendent. We are aware that Johnson stated she was prepared to resign during a heated board meeting last week when they were debating a potential district split.
Community members followed the agenda and took turns speaking at the podium for a few hours. But the assembly swiftly devolved into an unruly, impolitic yelling match. Even her resignation was tendered by the superintendent.

Board Trustee Joni Smith stated on Monday afternoon that she was “blindsided” once more by the subject of the next board meeting.
When Smith and Johnson went over the schedule Monday morning, Smith said the subject was not on it.
Smith posted the following on Facebook:
“I want to express my complete support for Dr. Tracy Johnson as our superintendent and express my sadness at this unanticipated development. She has continuously shown that she is dedicated to acting in the best interests of the district and the children. Dr. Johnson is the ideal leader for Keller ISD, and I am convinced that our community will benefit greatly from her ongoing leadership.Stability is the best course of action for Keller ISD given the chaos our community is now experiencing. Right now, I cannot and will not support a change in leadership. I’m still dedicated to fighting for what’s best for our district, which includes having Dr. Tracy Johnson as our superintendent. Our children, staff, and families deserve consistent, knowledgeable leadership.”

A traditional Keller district and a new Alliance ISD district would result from the proposal to separate Keller ISD.
Some parents claim that the new district would lose out because it is located in a less affluent area of the existing school district.
