Dallas Weather Forecast
Monday:
With a few more clouds than Sunday but a little less wind, Monday begins with wind chills in the teens.
For this MLK Day holiday, a cloud/sun mix is generally to be expected.
On Monday afternoon, temperatures will rise slightly above freezing for a few hours.
Tuesday:
We’ll be observing the formation of a storm in the Gulf of Mexico that will bring wintry precipitation to south and southeast Texas from Monday evening through Tuesday morning.
The air in the DFW region will continue to be very dry and have very low dewpoints. The best we can expect is a few flurries or a brief period of very light snowfall without any accumulation, despite the clouds and lift. There shouldn’t be any traffic problems.
The Waco, Palestine, region much to the south, where snowfall of up to an inch is predicted, would be the lone exception.
It will be sunny in the DFW area by Tuesday noon. Temperatures will be in the mid-30s with north breezes. Wind chills in the 20s will result from this.
Wednesday:
On Wednesday morning, the temperature will be in the 20s. The temperature will reach the 40s due to the return of a south breeze and sunny skies. It will be warmer than freezing, at least.
The remainder of the week:
Thursday’s weather is expected to stay dry despite a weak reinforcing cold front. Even if Thursday’s front might still bring frigid nights, there will be ample sunlight for the temperatures to gradually rise again.
Thursday will be cold, but by Friday, it will be sunny and in the upper 50s again.
Stronger south breezes will absorb clouds and precipitation from the Gulf over the weekend. The nights appear to be above freezing, but the temperatures will be near average for this time of year.
7-Day Forecast
Snow in the South
A unusual winter storm is headed for the southern United States, where it is predicted to produce a messy mix of heavy snow, sleet, and freezing rain that could significantly affect transport and daily life. As a result, preparations are being made from Houston to Atlanta.
According to the FOX Forecast Center, cities that aren’t used to winter weather may experience measurable snowfall. Although there is still some uncertainty in the snow forecast, computer forecast models indicate that major cities from Texas to the Florida Panhandle to the Carolinas may receive an inch or more of snow.
Snow expected in southern Texas, across the Gulf Coast overnight
In South Texas and along the Gulf Coast, a winter storm can halt travel.
Nearly every Gulf Coast state is expected to receive between one and three inches of snow, with some areas of eastern Texas, central Louisiana, and western Mississippi possibly receiving up to eight inches.
Parts of southern Georgia and the Florida Panhandle may be in for a more serious catastrophe. Warm air will be drawn in over the Southeast as the low-pressure system gets stronger.
