Just before 10 p.m. on Thursday, police were called to a collision on Gillespie Street, close to Turtle Creek Boulevard and Cedar Springs Road.
Two individuals were reportedly approaching a parked ridesharing car, according to investigators.
The two victims were struck by another automobile who swerved around the parked vehicle.
The hospital received both victims.
Katherine Kerl, age 23, was one of the victims who passed away.
Police said the other individual who was struck by the automobile is stable.
The crash suspect stayed on the scene.
