DALLAS—In the run-up to MLK Day on January 20, 2025, communities around North Texas will commemorate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.
Martin Luther King Day is a federal holiday on Monday, January 20. This year, it coincides with Inauguration Day, which is also a federal holiday.
What will be closed on Jan. 20?
In honor of the two federal holidays, most government offices and agencies will be closed on Monday, January 20.
In honor of Martin Luther King Day, post offices, banks, and schools will all be closed on January 20.
On January 20, there won’t be any mail deliveries because the USPS and UPS will be closed. FedEx will, however, resume operations on January 20 with adjusted services.

The annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade is Sat., Jan. 18 at 10am, starting behind Carrollton City Hall on Rainwater Ln. Due to the continued construction on MLK Blvd/SM Wright, the 2025 Martin Luther King, Jr. Annual MLK Day Parade will start at the Fair Park Pennsylvania entrance at 10 a.m. It will proceed westbound on Pennsylvania turning right north bound on Latimer making a right on MLK Blvd. The Parade will proceed eastbound returning to Fair Park.
