Weather changes Mavs-Blazers tip-off time

We know:

An hour before their original start time, the Mavericks moved up Thursday’s game to 6:30 p.m.

At 5 p.m., the American Airlines Center’s doors opened.

Fans braved the weather to see the Dallas Mavericks play despite the intense rain and snow.

“We thought it might get canceled,” Lake Highlands resident Cullin Bacak stated. However, professional sports are what this is. The game will be played by them.

“I was working from home,” Oak Cliff resident Carlos Elguea stated. “I was just keeping an eye on whether the game had been canceled or was still scheduled to take place. Then they tampered with my time.

Because of the snowy conditions, the game was moved up one hour. Workers scraped ice from sidewalks and spread salt, but the intense rain soon washed it away.

In Denton County, where they had to walk through a lot more snow than had fallen around Downtown Dallas, some families drove from neighborhoods like The Colony.

The Colony’s Jovi Perrez remarked, “The main roads were pretty good,” “The roads in the residential areas were not very good. But everything was good on the main routes.

Others simply drove on slick roads in Dallas’ southern regions.

“On the street, there isn’t much snow. “There isn’t much traffic either,” Elguea stated.

Some people found it easy to get to the game, but returning home when things go worse is a worry.

Bacak stated, “We will be concerned about that when it occurs.”

“Just exercise caution. I’ll be good if I take my time, moving at 40 miles per hour or less,” Perez replied.

The Mavs ultimately defeated the Blazers 117-111.
