PLANO, Texas:A Planowoman has been freed on bond after being charged with striking a youngster while she was walking to school and then driving away.

What We Know: On December 10, Zulma Beltran, 49, is accused of striking a 12-year-old who was walking to Wilson Middle School. Beltran is charged with collision involving bodily harm.

After footage of the event was posted online and the public provided authorities with multiple clues, Beltran was taken into custody on December 26.

Beltran was freed on December 30 after posting a $50,000 bond.

According to the terms of the bond, Beltran must submit to testing for banned substances and is not permitted to interact with the girl or carry lethal weapons.

Around eight in the morning on Tuesday, a black SUV struck a small child on Westridge Drive and Wilson Drive in Plano. Police are requesting assistance in locating the driver.

The Backstory: On December 10, while the 12-year-old girl was crossing Westridge Drive on her way to Wilson Middle School, she was struck by an SUV, as shown on CCTV.

A car that looks to be a Buick Enclave is shown in the footage hitting the girl, backing up, and then driving off. As she is flung several feet, the girl screams. She is heard sobbing as she stands up and hobbles off to school.

FOX 4 was informed by the girl’s relatives that she was not gravely injured. After arriving at school that morning, she informed her school resource officer about the incident.

Beltran was already recognized by police as the driver, and they said that she told them what she had done.

Personal injury collisions are third-degree felonies.
