ARLINGTON, Texas—On Saturday night at AT&T Stadium, Crowley defeated Austin Westlake in the Class 6A Division 1 championships.
The Panthers never looked back after making a successful flea flicker for a score on the opening play of the game.
Throughout the contest, North Crowley’s aerial offense amassed 640 yards.
The Panthers were undefeated at the end of the season. Since Arlington Heights’ victory in 1948, the team is the first Fort Worth school to take home a championship in the state’s biggest classification.
Westlake had a 14-2 record at the end of the season.
First Half
At the break, North Crowley has a 28–7 lead over Austin Westlake.
On the opening play from scrimmage, North Crowley scored with a flea flicker. Chris Jimerson, the quarterback, hit Quentin Gibson for a 75-yard touchdown after Cornelius Warren III turned the ball back to him.
Grady Bartlett of Westlake tied the game at 7–7 with a short-range goal.
Jimerson went on to throw for two more touchdowns and run for another, and it was all North Crowley after that.
North Crowley dominated the first half, outscoring Westlake 367-206.
Second Half
To begin the second half, North Crowley continued where they had left off.
The Panthers marched down the field in a 9-play, 84-yard drive that culminated in a touchdown by Daniel Bray after Westlake made a three-and-out.
Westlake immediately returned down the field and scored their own touchdown. To reduce the deficit to 35–14, Rees Wise took a quarterback keeper into the end zone.
However, North Crowley retaliated swiftly, with Bray scoring a 75-yard run for his second half touchdown. The Panthers subsequently increased their lead to 43-14 with a two-point conversion.
In the fourth quarter, Wise scored another goal for the Chaparrals.
North Crowley crossed the 50-point threshold for the eleventh time this season when Jimerson tossed another touchdown in the final seconds of the fourth quarter.
