DALLAS: Following a string of incidents that appeared to be unrelated, a Downtown Dallas nonprofit is urging any more victims to come forward.
Although the suspect is currently incarcerated, documents indicate that he was previously free before allegedly attacking once more.
After claiming to have been attacked at random, two ladies who reported the incident to the police spoke with FOX 4. There seem to be more victims, though.
Brianne Boettcher claims that on Monday afternoon, while strolling down Main Street in Downtown Dallas, Cody Burkett knocked her to the ground.
“I heard and felt someone running behind me, but I was unable to react because it was moving too quickly. “And he simply pushed me down onto the sidewalk,” she remembered. “He simply continued to walk. Immediately. The only thing I did was shout at him.
Boettcher is among an increasing number of individuals who have reported that Burkett assaulted them in downtown.
Downtown shop owner Lee Ann Lewis claims to have seen Burkett many times. However, she claims he touched her over the weekend.
“All of a sudden, he just came up from behind me and grabbed me and just started yelling gibberish in my ear,” she explained.
Lewis recorded a Dallas policeman holding Burkett. Dozens of interactions resulted from a Facebook post. Some claim to be victims as well.
“I think that that really was a good push to get some sort of traction, some sort of change,” she stated.

A public records search on Burkett uncovered 53 criminal filings, including convictions of multiple aggravated assaults and kidnapping, which led to prison time.
Burkett has already had court-ordered mental health evaluations, according to records. In his recent mugshot, a hand appears to be bracing him.
“I m actually very thankful that they have finally done something about this,” said Lewis. “Because, hopefully, we get Cody Burkett off the street.”

Elizabeth Ferguson was on her lunch break when she was randomly clobbered her head with a blunt object and knocked unconscious. “Somebody was apparently going to get hurt that day, and I happened to be the one who was injured.”
Downtown Dallas Inc says some other alleged victims of Burkett have chosen to not file police reports. They re asking anyone who s a victim to do so.
“The only way it s going to work is if citizens and police work together for a common ground to make changes,” said Lewis.
Boettcher is recovering from minor injuries. Moving forward, she cannot help but feel a bit different about walking through her downtown neighborhood.
“I ve been walking around downtown for years, and that was the first time it happened,” she said. “So I do feel a little more scared.”
Burkett does not have a bond amount listed online. He s been in jail since Tuesday afternoon.
