Texas’s MansfieldCharges have been brought against an 18-year-old who reportedly led police on a chase early Friday morning and injured two Mansfield officers.
What We Know: Shortly before 1:30 a.m., a Mansfield police officer noticed an automobile parked in McClendon Park West.
The officer went to look into the car because the park closes at 9 p.m. every night. She smelled marijuana and phoned for help.
Officers instructed the two passengers to get out of the car when backup arrived.

According to the police, 18-year-old Diego Battle refused to comply, but an 18-year-old female passenger did.
A momentary struggle ensued. Battle had just put his driver-side door in reverse when the first cop attempted to open it, hitting the two officers as he drove off.
Battle was pursued by additional officers to his grandmother’s apartment in Dallas, which was located in the 6900 block of Cockrill Hill Road. After speaking with a negotiator over the phone, he gave up almost an hour later.
Battle is currently being charged with avoiding arrest and aggravated assault on a police officer. The female traveler was not charged and was freed.
Medics were on the scene to treat the first police officer. There were no major injuries to the second officer.
