Ed Kraus, the departing chief, is replaced by Neil Noakes, who has been with the department since 2000.
“It was not an easy decision,” the CEO remarked. It’s bittersweet, he said.
Additionally, Noakes stated that he wishes to dispel any speculation that he is taking a job offer elsewhere.
“I am aware that this is not to quit for a different position. No job offers have come my way. I am unsure of my next course of action. I have to leave this role if I want to be the husband and parent I want to be,” he stated.
After Chief Eddie Garcia retired, the city of Dallas is also searching for a new police chief.
Garcia eventually relocated to Austin, where he currently serves as the assistant city manager for his former boss, T.C. Broadnax, the former city manager of Dallas.
