North Texas: Parts of the metroplex saw temperatures drop into the 20s as North Texas saw its first freeze of the season.
At 5:15 a.m. Friday, DFW Airport officially reached 32 degrees, marking the first cold temps since February.
This year’s freeze is a few weeks late because the first freeze typically occurs around November 22.
Temperatures in some places, including Denton, dropped into the upper 20s. The temperature at DFW Airport plummeted to 31 degrees at 6 a.m.
Later today, peak temperatures will remain in the low 50s with a minor wind chill as clouds move in.
There is a 20% chance of light showers tonight, increasing the likelihood of rain, primarily in the metroplex’s southern and southwestern regions.
On Saturday, there’s a 70% chance of showers, especially in the afternoon, and the rain will get heavier. The DFW region may see some morning rain, but the majority of the precipitation will fall later in the day.
It is anticipated that the rain will stop by Sunday noon.
