Texas’s LewisvilleFollowing an encounter while on duty, a Leewisville police officer faces charges of official oppression and sexual assault.
Former officer Filemon Perez is accused of having inappropriate sexual relations with a citizen during Thanksgiving week while in uniform, Lewisville police said on Friday.
After hearing about the alleged assault, the department launched both an internal and criminal inquiry.
According to the police, Perez resigned on Tuesday after learning that he would be let go.
On Wednesday, a warrant for his arrest was issued. He hasn’t been taken into custody yet.
Lewisville Police Chief Brook Rollins stated, “We will continue to pursue this incident to bring justice to the victim, even though we are unable to comment further on this specific matter due to the ongoing criminal investigation.”
According to police, this incident has nothing to do with the department’s prostitution scandal from earlier this year.
