The city of Ennis declared Thursday afternoon that boiling water is no longer necessary because lab test results indicate the water is now safe to consume.
Also, Ennis ISD said that school would start up again on Friday.
Due to a number of water main breaks and leaks that caused the water pressure to drop to dangerous levels over the weekend, the city has been under a boil water notice since Sunday.
On Monday afternoon, the city’s water supply was restored. However, as the water pressure dropped again on Tuesday, the boil water alert remained in effect.
Students in Ennis ISD have been absent from class for almost two weeks. Due to the boil water advisory, the schools were closed this week as well as for the entire previous week during autumn break.
According to a spokesman for the school system, pupils won’t have to make up lost days.
