As cooler weather moves into the metroplex this week, residents of North Texas-DFW are enjoying their first gloomy December day.
The day will begin with a series of morning showers and temperatures that stay in the 50s. Particularly east of the metroplex, further rain is predicted for late morning and into the middle of the day.
Clouds will remain after the rain stops, retaining the colder air. Tonight’s winds will change, resulting in nighttime lows in the 30s and 40s.
Thursday, with highs in the 50s and some sunshine, will be a day of transition between weather systems. There will be more sunshine in the northern DFW and more clouds in the southern DFW.

As showers form, temperatures will drop into the 30s by Friday evening, allowing for sleet. There is a small risk of hail, and highs will be in the 40s and 50s. About 30% of the area will be covered by showers.
With a 50% probability of rain on Saturday, the weekend will remain cool. Severe storms are not anticipated, but thunder is a possibility. The 50s will be the new high.
This weather cycle ends on Sunday, with rain expected from dawn until midday. The temperature will increase to the 60s.
