Duncanville, Texas:High school athletes nationwide make important decisions regarding their college prospects on National Signing Day.

On Wednesday morning, eight football players from Duncanville High School signed contracts for athletic assistance.

The Panthers took home consecutive state titles. It is therefore not surprising that so many squad members formally committed to playing for prestigious universities like Arizona State, SMU, and the University of Oregon.

Keelon Russell, a quarterback, pledged to attend the University of Alabama.

“This signing day is simply one more step toward really being on the Tuscaloosa campus. Therefore, no true feelings. All set to go out and play baseball. However, I will admit that it is a blessing to see all of my brothers succeed and pursue their dreams. He added, “I’m just eager to get this thing going.”

Watching his son sign with SMU, Tyren Polly, Sr., was at the campus. Seeing him play at such a high level so near home was a dream come true for him.

It’s unquestionably a boon. I conquered numerous challenges. Therefore, I thank God and these two individuals for being here with me. Tyren Polley, Jr. stated, “My entire family and I are simply going to get better from here.”

In 2018, Polley and his family were interviewed by FOX 4 for a piece about Pop Warner’s new concussion prevention initiative. After running into another player during a middle school football game, the 12-year-old sustained a severe concussion a year later.

His mother, Kawana Polley, added, “It’s been a sacrifice but definitely worth it with him being able to attend college on a full scholarship.”

The Panthers are aiming for a third consecutive championship and are still in the playoffs this year.

“We’re still in the playoffs, so that’s our main concern. Since kids are young and surrounded by many distractions, it is important to put that in perspective and to keep them grounded. Therefore, Reginald Samples, head football coach at Duncanville, said, “I’m just trying to make sure they understand that we still have work to do.”

Athletes from Duncanville also signed with the University of North Texas, Texas State, and Lamar University.
