Texas’s Grand PrairieFollowing the city’s annexation of almost 1,500 acres along its southern border, Grand Prairie is growing.
The new area will be included in the expansion of Goodland, a master-planned community in Ellis and Johnson counties that is situated south of US Highway 287.
Goodland is referred to as a “city within a city” by Grand Prairie, which also has ambitions for a walkable town center.
50,000 more people could live in the town developed by the Dallas-based real estate development company Provident.
“Goodland evokes memories of a more straightforward lifestyle. Imagine neighbors catching up on the front porch or children playing hopscotch. This isn’t your average master-planned neighborhood or the expansive suburbs of northern DFW. In a statement, Provident Managing Director Rylan Yowell noted, “This is a Texas town in the making with a new pattern of life.”
According to the authorities, 15,000 homes will eventually be constructed in the neighborhood.
The city claims that in addition to the houses, there will be room for stores, eateries, schools, parks, sports fields, stocked ponds, and more.
“This is a significant step in our city’s development,” Mayor Ron Jensen of Grand Prairie stated. “Unlike many of our neighboring cities, we have the unique advantage of new development opportunities to our south that will drive the growth and prosperity of our city.”
The region will be connected to Grand Prairie via the Goodland Parkway at US Highway 287 and Tollway 360. It is anticipated that the road would open in December 2025.
