Texas’s GreenvilleOn Tuesday, December 3, at 10 a.m., Greenville Police Officer Cooper Dawson’s funeral will take place at Lake Pointe Church in Rockwall.
The public can pay their respects when the doors open at 9 a.m.
Cooper Dawson was a friend, spouse, father, and public worker. After attempting to perform a traffic stop, Dawson was shot and killed by a guy while performing his duties.
Officer Dawson was honored by the community last week. His body was transported from the Collin County Medical Examiner’s Office to a Rockwall funeral home in a police parade.

On the evening of Monday, November 25, Officer Dawson was shot while pursuing a suspect on foot following a traffic stop. Police claim that Officer Dawson was able to shoot the suspect despite suffering serious injuries.
The suspect and Officer Dawson were transported to Hunt County Regional Hospital. After being transported to Medical City Plano, Officer Dawson passed away the next morning.

Hunt County Jail is the source of Christian Sparger, age 25.
Christian Sparger, 25, was the culprit, according to the police, and was wanted on multiple criminal charges. He allegedly shot Officer Dawson many times after ambushing him in a forested area behind residences.
Officer Dawson returned fire, seriously injuring Sparger but dying as a result.
Sparger is accused of capital murder of a peace officer and is currently being imprisoned at the Hunt County Jail. A $5 million bond is being used to hold him.
