DallasThis year, Wreaths Across America organizers say they need assistance in remembering our country’s veterans.

The organization lays a wreath at every veteran’s tomb, including Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, in the middle of December every year.

With Monday night as the deadline, organizers estimate they are more than 5,000 wreaths short this year.

Misty Weaver of Wreaths Across America stated, “It’s really important for families that come out here to visit their loved ones to know that their sacrifice wasn’t in vain.”

The yearly occasion also seeks to educate the public about American service members.

December 14 is the date of the solemn ceremony at DFW National Cemetery.

“When we go to lay the wreaths down we say their name so that they are never forgotten,” Weaver continued.

DFW has received almost 52,000 wreath donations, but thousands more are still required.

Before the deadline on Monday, the objective is to raise funds for around 59,000 wreaths.

Sponsorship for each wreath is $17.

“For every two wreaths that are sponsored, Wreaths Across America will give us one for free, so that s going to help us get to our goal faster,” Weaver said. Since this is entirely citizen-funded, we most certainly need your assistance. We can only accomplish this because of the amazing people of Dallas-Fort Worth.”
