Volunteers bus in homeless North Texans for Thanksgiving Day feast

DallasA significant portion of Thanksgiving was devoted by some philanthropic North Texans to ensuring that the less fortunate continued to experience the warmth of the occasion.

To help the less fortunate, twenty volunteers rose early on Thanksgiving morning and headed to the American Legion Post 511.

On Thanksgiving morning, buses from Transportation Unlimited and Ultimate Travel Inc. transported homeless people to American Legion Post 511 in Oak Cliff from shelters in Dallas and Fort Worth.

According to Monique Jackson of Ultimate Travel Inc., her father began providing Thanksgiving feasts over two decades ago.

“The space was provided by American Legion Post 511. We’ve benefited from the Corvette Club’s assistance for many years. We get assistance from other people, like as fraternities and sororities.

To carve ham and turkey, volunteers rose before the sun.

For over ten years, Joe Rhodes has been a volunteer.

“I feel great knowing I could help someone that needs help,” stated the man.

Visitors didn’t simply depart feeling stuffed.

This year, we gathered clothes and shoes,” said Kimberly Wheller of the American Legion Post. Since they usually have bags hanging on them, we also added more luggage. Therefore, it’s a pleasure to be here this morning.

Additionally, volunteers left with full hearts, even though the goal was to make the less fortunate feel better.

“We are glad they are here, and we want to continue this every year,” Wheeler stated.

“I’m really grateful,” Jackson uttered. “It s the Oak Cliff community, and we are here to lend a helping hand.”
