In a tragic turn of events, a suspect involved in an armed home robbery in Boise ended his own life during a police foot chase. The incident occurred after officers from the Boise Police Department (BPD) responded to reports of a home robbery on Clinton Lane on August 9.
The Public Information Officer for Boise Fire, Lynsey Amundson, provided details on the situation. According to Amundson, the suspect had been under investigation by the police and was spotted attempting to break into another home on W. Kingston on August 10 around 8:00 p.m. When officers approached to arrest him, the suspect, who was armed with a handgun, fled the scene, leading to a foot pursuit.
The chase took a grim turn near the area of Kettering Avenue and Camborne Street, where the suspect stopped and, instead of surrendering, tragically turned the gun on himself. The suspect died by suicide, inflicting a fatal gunshot wound.
Amundson confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to the public as a result of this incident. The investigation is still active, and authorities are working to gather all the details. Once the family has been informed, the coroner will disclose the suspect’s identity.
