Idaho Humane Society Helps Find Homes for Dogs Rescued from California

In a heartwarming effort to save lives, the Idaho Humane Society is stepping up to help 50 dogs rescued from a troubled home in California. On Friday, 30 of these dogs arrived in Boise, where they will be placed in loving homes. The dogs were rescued from a shelter in Riverside, California, which has been overwhelmed by three separate hoarding cases in the Coachella Valley.

This specific rescue involved 50 dogs from one home and another 20 dogs from a different location. With so many animals in need, the Idaho Humane Society has become a crucial partner in the effort to find these dogs new families.

Since the beginning of this year, the Idaho Humane Society has taken in 600 dogs transferred from other rescues and shelters. The organization aims to reduce unnecessary euthanasia and provide every dog with a chance at a better life. “We are happy we could assist in these dogs’ journey from Riverside to new adoptive homes here in the Treasure Valley,” said Kristine Schellhaas, the Idaho Humane Society’s public information officer.

The rescue mission wouldn’t have been possible without the dedicated efforts of Wings of Rescue, an organization that specializes in flying pets to new homes. Ric Browde, the pilot and CEO of Wings of Rescue, was present at the airport to oversee the dogs’ departure. However, it was the experienced volunteers, Kale and Anji Garcia, who took charge of the flying this time. The couple has successfully transported over 2,000 pets to their forever homes.

Browde praised the collaboration between organizations: “Our success transporting pets to new homes has everything to do with terrific partners on the ground.” He highlighted the vital role the Idaho Humane Society played in making this flight a success. “We know that these dogs will end up getting great homes, that there is open kennel space for them, and that no local pets will be displaced by their arrival—a true win-win for everyone involved.”

The rescued dogs will be placed in various shelters, including the Idaho Humane Society in Boise, the Utah Humane Society, and the Cache Humane Society. The goal is to ensure that each dog finds a loving home where they can feel safe and cared for.

The Idaho Humane Society encourages the community to consider adopting these dogs. Every adoption makes a difference, not only in the life of the dog but also in creating space for more animals in need. The organization is committed to ensuring that each rescued dog is given the best possible chance to thrive in a nurturing environment.
