Russell Brand: Biden’s Resignation and Harris Endorsement an ‘Extraordinary Masquerade!

Actor Russell Brand has sparked controversy with his recent remarks on President Biden’s resignation and the Democratic Party’s decision to back Vice President Kamala Harris as the new candidate for President. Brand’s comments have stirred up debates and discussions across social media and news platforms.

On Sunday, Brand took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to express his thoughts. “Kamala Harris for President? Are we all about to be ‘burdened by what might be,’” he questioned, posting a video of himself reacting to Biden’s resignation announcement. In his video, Brand criticized the Democratic Party, suggesting there is “duplicity and construction” behind their actions.

“I’m increasingly open to the idea that this is some extraordinary masquerade. And as with all masquerades, you have to be open to the possibility that there’s an element of duplicity and construction beneath. There’s going to be a wild ride between now and November for all of us,” Brand said.

Brand’s skepticism towards the Democratic Party isn’t new. He has often voiced his concerns about political integrity and transparency. His recent comments reflect his belief that the current situation is a façade masking deeper issues.

Before the debate, many people were trying to maintain the idea that Biden was coherent and capable. Brand argued that the debate revealed the extent of what he called an “extraordinary lie.” According to him, Biden’s endorsement of Harris, which came shortly after his resignation announcement, further exemplified this duplicity.

Brand also referenced an assassination attempt on former President Trump, drawing a parallel to the current political turmoil. “We’ve all been watching Kamala Harris, too,” he said, implying that Harris’s rise to candidacy was premeditated.

“No claim of senility can be made [for Harris], but this is not a talkative and easy political figure. This is someone who does not seem at ease around public speaking in particular. It’s extraordinary. We’re witnessing, I think, a kind of almost a contraction of time,” Brand added.

Biden’s endorsement of Harris has been met with mixed reactions. An NBC poll revealed that Harris has the lowest approval rating for a vice president in the past 30 years, standing at just 32%. Despite this, a poll from the AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research found that about six in 10 Democrats believe Harris is the right person for the job.

Former President Trump also weighed in on Harris being the presumptive Democratic nominee. “It would seem to me that from a political standpoint, [Harris is] who they’re going with. They’re not even talking about alternatives,” Trump stated. “I think she’s an ineffective person. She was in charge of the border, she’s never been there, she didn’t do a good job, and she hasn’t done a job on a lot of things.”
