Former rivals Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis made surprising displays of loyalty to Donald Trump at the Republican National Convention (RNC) on Tuesday. Once vocal critics of the former president, both Haley, former South Carolina governor and DeSantis, governor of Florida, expressed strong support for Trump’s leadership in front of a cheering crowd of delegates.
Haley, who had previously criticized Trump’s temperament and suitability for a second term, emphasized unity within the Republican Party despite differing opinions. She acknowledged her disagreements with Trump but endorsed him for reelection, arguing that the country would fare worse under another Biden administration.
