DallasOn Friday, a fire at the Plaza Latina Bazaar on Harry Hines Boulevard in Northwest Dallas claimed the lives of over 500 animals.
What We Know: Around nine in the morning on Friday, the fire broke out in the sizable one-story shopping mall close to Harry Hines Boulevard and Denton Drive.
Heavy smoke and flames were rising from the building by the time firemen arrived, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue. SKY 4 footage revealed a ceiling that had partially collapsed.
In order to combat the fire defensively, firefighters had to deploy ladder pipes and hoses. They were able to completely put out the fire in roughly two hours.
It’s unclear how many individuals were inside when the fire started, but everyone left safely, according to DFR officials.
According to Dallas Fire-Rescue, the shopping mall had a pet store.
The pet store filled with smoke even though the fire did not reach it.
According to DFR, smoke inhalation killed every animal in the store.
