Texas’ ArlingtonArlington police are looking into a fatal collision between an 18-wheeler and a car.

What We Know: Just after two in the morning on Saturday, the collision occurred in the eastbound lanes of I-20 close to S. Cooper Street.

Investigators claim that a 2024 Hyundai Elantra rear-ended the 18-wheeler while it was moving quickly, setting the vehicle on fire.

The Elantra was on fire by the time the police arrived.

After putting out the fire, Arlington Fire discovered the driver’s body inside. At the scene, they were declared dead.

The 18-wheeler’s driver was unharmed.

What We Don’t Know: The Hyundai’s driver has remained unidentified by investigators.

Once they have been positively identified, the name will be made public by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The cause of the collision is also being looked at by police. It has not been determined that alcohol is not a contributory component.
