We know:
Just before six in the morning on Monday, Dallas Fire-Rescue received a 911 call at a one-story duplex in the 10600 block of Boedeker Street.
The garage at the rear of the house was where firefighters discovered the fire. They started fighting the fire and performing search and rescue efforts right away.
After being rescued from the house, two residents were sent to a nearby hospital. At the hospital, one resident was declared dead. The situation of the other one is still critical.
During the rescue, one firefighter suffered a leg injury that required hospitalization. It is anticipated that he will fully recover.
By fighting the fire from the outside, firefighters were able to stop it from spreading to neighboring houses or the opposite side of the duplex.
Three people from the duplex’s opposite side made a fortunate escape. To help them, the American Red Cross was called in.
What is unknown to us:
The cause of the fire is still being investigated, although it began in the garage.
